It's Derby Racing Time!

The Derby race was a success this year! This year Angie was able to race with her Brownie friends. It was called the "Powder Derbey". The Cub Scouts weren't really crazy about this idea but they still support the Brownies. They were good sports! (I think too, they didn't have a choice)
This was (mine) Angie's car! She did theeee....STICKERS...yah that's it! Yep, the stickers! John did the design and I did the painting and well John and I pretty much made this car! ha! ha! You have to say it is Angie all over it! She loved the poodle in the back seat tagging along for the big race. She was pretty excited to show it off.

Here is Brad's stunning fast car! Now Brad put a lot of himself into this car. So John and him were a team on this project! Brad raced last year so he kinda knew what he was getting into.
Like the paint job? Brad did it! He did pretty good huh!

Dad hooked him up with the weights! Yah, I bought pretty much every weight packet the craft store had on stock. I was able to do that cause I was getting them out of the boxes off the morning truck of the craft store. If you don't get them when they come in you can forget it! You can't find them any where. Well any where reasonably close to you. That's how big this durbey stuff is out here.

This was the weigh in for the Brownies...lots of pinks and pastel colors! Girls ROCK!!!

Here's the boys weigh in! Lots of blacks and blues and reds! Boys ROCK!!!
All the cars have to weigh in at exactly 5 pounds! No more, no less! It's serious stuff you
see. We did good with both. This is when the kids get to show off their cars too. It's all exciting! The dads get into it too...go figer!

Brad's turn!

The day of the race! Girls went first! There's John lining them all up! Get the engines ready! Did I tell you the dads dig this!

John making it just right! On your- mark- get- set- Gooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Here's the girls...it's so exciting and intense all at the same time! Go-Go-Goooo!!!!

Go little adorable pink car that I worked so hard on! ha! ha! You are so pretty racing! ha! ha!

See what did I say...here's the girls dads with their brownie daughters! These are my girls! They are such good girls too! Holly (#1 Brownie leader) and I (#2 Brownie leader, myself) are so proud of them. Sweet-Sweet girls! Yah, the dads dig this stuff!

Here's Angie getting her award for second place of prettiest car! She was so excited! She wore her medal for the whole week!

Now it's the boys turn! O Boy! It's such a huge deal here in this small town!

The boys love this!

This is Sam...He's Brad's best friend! He is such a fun kid! Brad and him are so good for each other. They really enjoy being together. Even his mom understands their personalty...she and I both understand and both say "Finally"! She is the only one who gets me when I say I have to go walk my kid! She does the same...it's so nice someone can relate and look at me like I'm not nuts! I love hearing the two boys conversations. They really bounce off information off each other. They are so smart and have all these great ideas and the engery...I mean the engery!!! Did I say the engery!!! ha! ha! I love it! Sam made his car a hot dog! Clever!

Okay...they are off!!!!

Look who is ahead......It's our Brad!

Can it be....Brad you are winning!!!!

Brad...he won first place! He was soooooo....excited! This was such a big deal for him too cause this is the first event Bradley ever won! It was so exciting! We made a big deal out of it of course, cause it is! The sad part...the next day Brad came down with this awful stomach virus and was REALLY sick! So he had to miss a lot of school again and he wasn't sure if he was going to get his tropie at the pack meeting...but dad snuck him in when he was feeling a little better and guess what...he got his trofies!!! Then it was time to run home and get back in bed! He was so happy!

This was Brad's last year for the derby! Now onto the Boy Scouts events! O boy!

There they are.....My little winning scouts! They had fun! Yah, I should show you all the darn badges these kids have....talk about over achievers! Especially my troop of girls....we don't mess around, we get things done! Holly (leader#1) is talking noise about camping! Help me! I don't do camping! Yuck, I'll pass! Lets work on other badges, thank you very much! Now if we are talking about the Merriot Hotel kind of camping then lets go for it! Camping is a not for me! Bugs, outside bathrooms, no showers, cold, dirty, not my bed, etc.... Need I say any more!

Well that is what we've been up too lately! This is what happen at our Scout derby!
Until our next big event...chow!

Today is my dads BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Happy Birthday dad! I wish I was there with you right now!

My dad is someone I hold close to my heart! I'm very poud that he is my dad!

The memories I have that go through my head on his special day when he is so far away is...
When we would go places in the big Malibu Station wagon he would make these crazy faces at us in the car mirror and sing really goofy to the song on the radio. He would give us the best bronco buffalo rides on his back until he would buck us off. He could make us laugh REALLY hard when he would tickle us , mom would get after him cause we couldn't catch our breath we were laughing so hard. He would tell me I was boy crazy if it tickled! I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons with him. He loved goofy! He use to laugh as much as we did at the cartoons! (That's so cool!) Then as we got a little older he taught me how to ride my bike and trust me I was a hard one to teach...I didn't mind the training wheels. Then it was time to learn how to ski. Yep, he taught me that too! Once again was a stuburn student! So many times he would have to meet me at the bottom of the lift because I would stay on the chair lift when I saw how high up we were. He would get so frusrated when I would tell him "I can't" when he knew in his heart I could! (He believed in me!) So every summer my dad would put on his coach whistle and his favorite sport stop watch would be ticking away for pre ski season. He always made sure we were fit when it was time to ski. He was always looking out for us so we would n't injure ourselves skiing. Then my teenage years came and I started track for the first time and he helped me pick out my first pair track shoes...They were by Adidas. They were neat! He taught me how to take care of the spikes..I was listening to his every word too. I knew my dad was the only person I wanted to listen to when it came to track. He came to every pratice and every track meet and every track meet he had tears in his eyes and would tell me how proud of me he was. That is something I will never forget! Even as big of a track star he was in his teen years he was proud of me! Then Caleb was born and he couldn't stop telling me how much he loved me and made sure I was okay...(Okay I'm totally crying now!) then he couldn't put his first grandson down. As time went on he enjoyed being with the boys and playing with them at Disneyland...I loved watching him taking them too the Disney Characters and getting just as excited as the boys did...seeing him eat that up, was love in my heart. ( After all I can say my dad was POOH when I was a little girl...yep he was! He worked at Disneyland too! How cool is that! ) Then it was time to meet Angie and that was the hardest time for me as a young mom...knowing that you were going to loose your only girl was a huge lump in my heart! Once again my dad was his wonderful self and gave me never ending hug and said I know how painful this is Chris....I love you and I'm here! Then I said it hurts dad, it hurts! He said it does hurt! My dad dosen't say much but he knows my feelings and my heart...that is my bond with my dad. When Angie came through and is now a healthy little girl she now shares that exact bond that my dad shares with me with her. It is something you just can't explain....it's love of our own and it is special. It's something that will always be apart of us. My dad is some one who taught me to believe in myself, my dad taught me to be goofy whenever I want to feel goofy, My dad taught me the love of my heavenly father, my dad taught me to always know you can always learn new things no matter what. My dad taught me the over powering love you get when you have kids of your own. My dad taught me kindness and forgivness. My dad taught me to be strong through any stumble. My dad I love so very much! No matter how far you are you are always with me every day I live. Happy Birthday Dad...I wish you the best day! XOXOXOXO

Brad wrote a story! A really good story! The only problem was the teacher gave him a D+! It was a project for his Language Arts class so with knowing that it was based on Grammer. Now if it was for creative writing then a big whopen A++ would or should of been his grade. His teacher is tough and as Brad has repeat himself through out this school year, 5th grade is tough! He had to write this story in computer lab and we think he was struggling with that as well so that didn't help too. As Charlie Brown would say...Good Grief! Like I said before, the story is Great! So I would like to share it with you....
The title: How Angie got a Hamster

One day, Lisa's (hamster) owner was on a trip. Some hamster named Ron, found a way under Brad's room door and into the hamsters cage. Now Ron was so hungry he ate all of Lisa's food! So then Lisa woke up! She saw that Ron had eaten all her food so she asked, "where is all my food?" Ron responded, " I ate it all!" Lisa yelled, "What!!!!! "That was going to last me all WEEKEND, and you ate it!!!" Ron answered, "So?" That was all the food I need." Lisa replied again.
"I know where there's more, follow me! "Ron said. So Lisa followed Ron.
On the way they met this cute hamster named Swiss (by the way Lisa's a girl and Ron's a boy).
Ron asked this guy in a cop suit, "How can we get to Wa Wa's mini mart? The cop replied with a "swoosh!" with his net and before you could blink an eye they were in a dark box in a car and the cop said, "You can go to WaWa's mini mart in your dreams!!! After a few minutes it felt like they went on a air plane. Before it felt like they were on a plane the cop said" see you in Hawaii"!!
When they were on the air plane they heard a firing noise at the air plane. Then the box flew off the plane! Ron had kept some sunflower seed bags.
Swiss made a hole and they jumped out of the box and used the bags as parachutes. When they reached the ground, they found out they were in Canada. They all thought they were still in Virginia so they meet this snake named, "Bow" and he said he would take them to Wawa's mini market.
Then the snake died, Ron killed it somehow. Then Ron pulled out this golden thing and hypnotized Swiss to put popcorn in her ear. All of a sudden Lisa woke up! Releved to find it was all a weird dream, but then she found herself back in Canada. Swiss still had popcorn in her ear. Ron was asleep. Lisa saw the golden hypnotizing thing in his hand, she took it out of his hand, and hypnotized Swiss to take the popcorn out of her ear. She found out later she could hypnotize too.
When Ron woke up Lisa told him the news. Ron was shocked. Then Lisa told Ron, "We could hypnotize people to fly and drive us back to my home! That's exactly what they did.
So they head back to the airport and used their hypnotizing powers on people to let them in the airplane and before you knew it they were on their way to Virginia and when they landed they were in a taxi to Lisa's house. On the way they stopped off at Pet Co. pet store and got some hamster food and a new cage. When they got to Lisa's house they put the new cage in owner's sister's room who's name is Angie. When the owners of the house returned home Brad the owner of the hamster Lisa saw the cage door and knew that she was on her adventures again.
THE END!!!!
Wasn't that good! Now keep in mind I typed it just like he wrote it so you will kind of get the whole grammer issue...but it's still funny and it kept me reading! Once again Brad has made me belly laugh! Some times this is all you need to entertain you!
