This is Granny Crockett's Banana Bread....
This bread is truely our family favorites! I give them as gifts at times it is that good! So I'm sharing with you this very yummy and our favorite recipe. O' John's family thank you so much for this tastey gift and sharing it with me.

Granny's Banana Bread
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt ( I actually have a measuring spoon that is a "pinch" so tiny!)
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup nuts, chopped
3 bananas

Cream shortening; add sugar and eggs mix until fluffy.

Alternate mashed bananas and flour.

add all dry ingredients combine thoroughly. Add vanilla and the nuts, now this is where I add my little 2 cents...I'm a big fan of chocolate and bananas together so this is when I add the dark chocolate chunks...oh sweet heaven! This is so yummy! Especially girls when you are craving chocolate the most. Don't get me wrong it's just as wonderful with out the chocolate but this just that little extra.
Then you put it in a loaf pan or do what I do muffin tin cause then I can pack them into the kids lunches or on the go breakfast with a OJ box and some fruit. We do that when we have a full day of games. O' don't forget to grease your loaf pan with shorting or Pam spray. You can use cup cake liners for the cup cakes too. Then put in oven which should of been pre heated at 325' and bake for 1 hour or less if you have a super power gas oven like I do. (I'm still trying to learn that darn thing! ha! ha!)
Yummy!

Then when all cooled down another extra touch I like to add is cream cheese as the frosting. This is so delightful! Butter melted on top is yummy too! Enjoy Granny's treat!

This is one of my favorite pictures of me with my grandma Clements. She would put all her grand kids in this very strong kitchen drawer (probably not the safest thing, I know) and she would sing to us and give us kisses and just liked us by her side in her kitchen. Look at her peeking at me and smiling! The kitchen can have some of the best memories!
